HELPING BC DAIRY FARMERS

HELPING BC DAIRY FARMERS BOUNCE BACK

In December, Lactanet Canada donated $25,000 to the BC Dairy Community Emergency Fund, held by BC Dairy, for flood recovery. Lactanet employees, who are industry ambassadors and very connected to their customers topped this off with personal contributions of an additional $8,000 donation. “While we acknowledge that rebuilding and clean-up efforts will take time, we want to offer the BC dairy community hope and some financial assistance,” mentioned Barbara Paquet, Chair of the Board of Directors, Lactanet Canada.

RESOLUTIONS

Now accepting resolutions

The Lactanet Resolutions process is a simple, yet formal process that is open to all licensed dairy farmers in Canada. It gives dairy producers the opportunity to submit non-binding resolutions, participate in discussions and vote. The ideas shared are a catalyst for best practices, knowledge sharing and collective evolution. We are now accepting Resolutions that must be received by March 1, 2022.

Get ready to be inspired! You can enjoy the big reveal of top Herd Scores from the comfort of your home. A Herd Score is Lactanet’s assessment on the health and profitability of the herd – similar to a report card. It reflects all the work behind six herd performance indicators through data collection, calculation and compilation.

What are the six indicators of a Herd Score?

The Herd Performance Index (HPI) allocates points for performance in different management areas, including milk production, udder health, reproduction, heifer rearing and longevity. Points are then converted into a Herd Score. It is an excellent evaluation and a great tool to monitor herd progress from year-to-year and is valuable for benchmarking.
