Available Now: The 2021-2030 Roadmap to Promote Mental Wellness in a Healthy Asia Pacific
We are very pleased to announce that the 2021-2030 Roadmap to Promote Mental Wellness in a Healthy Asia Pacific (the Roadmap), developed by the APEC Digital Hub for Mental Health in collaboration with member economies, was endorsed by the APEC Health Working Group (HWG) and Life Sciences Innovation Forum (LSIF) during APEC Senior Officials' Meetings this August 2021.
The Roadmap presents APEC's strategic approach to supporting mental wellness in a post-COVID Asia Pacific from 2021 to 2030, with a focus on project implementation, strategic partnerships, and inclusive growth. According to APEC's experts in mental health, the need for investment in mental health and wellbeing to support health and economic prosperity in the APEC region has never been more urgent.
APEC has prioritized efforts to address mental health and has provided landmark leadership in the Asia Pacific region, beginning with recognition by APEC of mental health needs in the 2014 APEC Leaders Declaration and the subsequent ministerial endorsement of the 2014-2020 APEC Roadmap to Promote Mental Wellness in a Healthy Asia Pacific.
Dr. Jill Murphy, Executive Director of the Digital Hub, and Dr. Raymond Lam, Executive Chair, presented on the Roadmap and the Digital Hub's work to APEC leaders during Senior Officials' Meetings (SOM3). Dr. Murphy spoke to the HWG on August 20, 2021, as well as the to the APEC Workshop on Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Wellbeing on August 18, 2021, while Dr. Lam presented outcomes from the Digital Hub's Technology and Equitable Access for Mental Health Care in a post-COVID Asia Pacific (TEAM-CAP) project during the LSIF Planning Group meeting on August 17, 2021.
We look forward to advancing the goals of the 2021-2030 Roadmap and encourage our members to read the entire document.
