Infographic – How Can We Promote the Borrowing of a Public Policy Already Tested Elsewhere?

When public health stakeholders propose policy options to decision makers to address public health issues, they may recommend adopting policies that have proven effective in other jurisdictions. This infographic presents a structured list of factors that facilitate the adoption of public policies from elsewhere and a four-pronged approach to mobilizing these factors to inform policy decisions. Public health actors and those from other sectors can use this as a resource when considering proposing the borrowing of a policy.

Series of publications from the Institut national de santé publique du Québec

As part of the Public Health Agency of Canada's Science in French Initiative, the Institut national de santé publique du Québec was able to translate various publications on current public health issues into English. The goal of this partnership is to promote the dissemination of scientific expertise to meet pan-Canadian needs. The NCCHPP is pleased to contribute to the efforts of promoting these resources. Here is a publication from the series related to alcohol consumption:

Alcohol consumption during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in Québec and Canada

Based on data derived from six probability surveys conducted from March 29, 2020 to April 28, 2021, this infographic presents rates of increase in alcohol consumption in Québec and Canada during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also provides sociodemographic characteristics and those linked to mental health status associated with this increase, as well as reasons most frequently mentioned to explain it.
