See you at the AGM!

As an organization that's spread out around the province, we don't often get to see our directors, club representatives and club members all in the same place. That's why we're so excited to connect with everyone at our AGM this June!

Thanks to all of you who registered for next month's event, which is being hosted by the Chilliwack Outdoor Club over the June 21-23 weekend. We looking forward to seeing old faces and meeting new ones at the Friday night meet and greet, tackling somes issues head-on at Saturday's AGM, socializing and enjoying a bite to eat on Saturday night, and exploring some great hikes together in the Chilliwack area on Sunday.

Registrants will receive an information package a couple of weeks before the AGM. If you have any questions about your AGM registration or about the AGM in general, please contact Stacey at stacey.santos@mountainclubs.org.

Some thoughts on Trails

Thanks to Trails BC for inviting us to present at the Greenway Trails Strategy Meeting in Penticton on May 5th! Our Executive Director, Barry Janyk, spoke of trails and their history, their future, and their oh-so complicated nature. Read his presentation here! (Photo: Margaret Lindsay)

Memorial for Jeremy McCall

A Celebration of Life to honour Jeremy McCall will be held on Monday, July 15th at the Stanley Park Pavilion, located at 610 Pipeline Road in Vancouver's Stanley Park, commencing at 11:00 a.m.

Jeremy’s wife, Ruth, and the McCall Family hope you will find yourselves in Vancouver on that day and able to attend. If you are coming, you please confirm your attendance and whether you will be bringing a friend or partner by sending quick note to Stacey at stacey.santos@mountainclubs.org.

FMCBC in the news

Our comments regarding the proposed wilderness lodge on Brohm Ridge made the news! Check out the article here.

Also, see Paul Kubik's (of BackcountryBC) comments here about the ungulate winter range maps. The developer says the lodge would reside outside of the range, but Paul's maps, which are based on provincial data, show otherwise.

Sneak peek at the upcoming issue of Cloudburst

New ORC publication

The Outdoor Recreation Council of BC just released a great resource, Working in a Good Way, that provides guidelines for outdoor recreation groups on engaging and working more cooperatively with Indigenous communities on trails and outdoor recreation projects.

Funding opportunity!

The sixth intake of the BC Rural Dividend Program runs Saturday, June 15 to Thursday, August 15, 2019.
