Join "What Matters to You?" Day on June 6, 2017!

Has a health care provider ever asked you, “What matters to you?” Have you ever shared with a health care provider what truly matters to you in your care? Asking that simple but important question has launched an international campaign that we are thrilled to be a part of!

As may have read on our blog, on February 21 PVN and the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council launched "What Matters to You?" Day, a new initiative to promote meaningful conversations and connections between care providers and those receiving care. And now we’d like to officially invite you to join us and participate in this campaign!

"What Matters to You?" Day started in Norway in 2014, and has grown into a global initiative, with over 500 teams in 14 countries participating in 2016. This year, for the first time, "What Matters to You?" Day is happening in BC. You can learn more about it on our blog post and at the official website: www.whatmatterstoyoubc.ca.

Because we believe great care begins with a question. Providing patient-centred care is important because it results in better outcomes for patients and greater satisfaction with care. “What Matters to You?” Day supports this by putting the patient voice at the centre of care, by focusing on what matters to them.

When a health care provider starts a conversation by asking what really matters to the person they are caring for, it helps them to build trust, develop empathy, and understand their patients. Ultimately, it improves the quality of care they provide.

Many patient partners have already participated in the planning for “What Matters to You?” Day, sharing their answers to the question, providing input on resources, and ensuring that the patient voice was embedded in everything we’ve created so far. You can read some of their thoughts on what matters to them in our Getting Started Kit.

You can also support "What Matters to You?" Day! by learning more about the initiative and helping us promote it! There are many ways you can do that:
